Tradition & ceremony
Desert Medicine
Southern California · Encino & San Fernando
A body of practice descended from the traditions and ancestral lineages of the Southwest and Northern Mexico, shaped by a relationship with the desert lands.
Who this space holds
This space centers Indigenous, Black, Brown, and People of Color, as well as Two-Spirit, Indigiqueer, LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent kin. We stand for cultural preservation, earth-rooted resistance, and decolonized, community-based healing. We honor ancestral medicines and traditions with integrity, respect, and reciprocity, while embracing storytelling as a sacred practice for connection and truth-keeping.
Access & exchange
Ceremony is free — what you exchange for is me. There is a deep understanding in our communities that sacred medicine is never sold, and I hold that closely. The medicine is free, and ceremony is free. What supports this work is the exchange for my time, my energy, and everything I have given to arrive here — the apprenticeships, the trainings, the years of study, the sacrifices, and the money invested in my education.
In the old days, a family might bring a chicken, eggs, or a woven blanket to the curandera in exchange for healing. That exchange was never for the medicine itself — it was care for the healer so she could keep serving her people. We live in modern times now, and the exchange looks different, but the heart of it is the same. When you offer an amount for a session, you are honoring my expertise and the life I have given to this path — not purchasing the medicine.
My work — sobadas, limpias, fire cupping, and medicines like Kambo and Bufo — is offered because I believe everyone deserves access to traditional medicine. If you are able to give the full amount, you help keep this medicine open for those who need it most.
No one is turned away due to lack of funds. If cost is a barrier, please let me know — I hold scholarships, work on the integrity system, and gladly accept barter and trades.
